The Cotswolds day tour from London enables you to enjoy this lovely area which has been designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It is full of “picture postcard” villages, with their honey-coloured stone cottages with thatched roofs, set amongst gentle rolling hills. One of the villages we can visit has been described as “the most beautiful village in England”!
More than 80% of the area is farmland, and you will find out how farming over the centuries has shaped the landscapes we see today. The wealth from the wool trade led to some of the finest churches in the country, such as the one at Burford.
The area became an important centre for the Arts and Crafts Movement with designers living and working in the area. Their influence can be seen in the unique shops and at places such as Kelmscote Manor, the summer home of William Morris. The Cotswolds has also attracted a lot of antique dealers, whose many shops are treasure troves waiting to be discovered!
The area includes some world famous gardens like Hidcote Manor with its “rooms” which lead you onto the next vista. Kiftsgate Court Gardens is one of my favourites, especially when the sweet smelling roses are out.
I will design a Cotswold day tour from London which combines the best of the area with your interests. We can round off the day with a traditional cream tea – delicious scones, clotted cream and homemade jam!
This tour requires a car and driver which I can help you arrange.
